Singing in the Night

“Now I am deeply discouraged,
    but I will remember you—
… I hear the tumult of the raging seas
as your waves and surging tides sweep over me.
But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me,
and through each night I sing his songs,
praying to God who gives me life.”

(NIV) Psalm 42: 6-8

It’s encouraging {in an odd kind of way} to know that even the “man after God’s own heart” still got discouraged. I don’t need to try to some how push away the discouragement, confusion, or sadness, but to remember God in the midst of them. The waves and surging tides are unsteady, but the God Who controls them is faithful and true.

“Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
    I will praise him again—
    my Savior and my God!”

(NIV) Psalm 42:5-6a

Again and again God has proven to me that He is trustworthy and constant. Even in the midst of discouragement I can find hope in the fact that God is faithful. I will praise Him again. And, God, through each night help me to sing Your songs.
