Capture My Attention

Your body knows what you think.

That really stuck out to me when I read it recently.

God has been showing me recently that it’s ok, actually really good, to get lost in worshiping Him. It’s good to be filled with His praise. It’s good to enjoy Who He is. It’s good to have my thoughts fixed on Him.

My body knows what I think. If I’m honest, I have to admit that trying to work everything out the way I want it and focusing on my own desires is really draining. Allowing myself to think lies because {supposedly} know one else will know, sucks joy and peace out of me. Thinking selfish, false things harms my perspective and my body.

And the idea that people can’t tell what I think a lot about isn’t true anyway. What has captured my attention will naturally affect my attitude, actions and words. It will affect the person people see me as.

My God knows what I think too. And He has a very good reason for telling me what to fix my attention on.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

Philippians 4:8 (NIV)

If I want to be seen as someone who is full of lasting joy and sure hope and authentic love, I need to fix my thoughts on those things … on the One Who displays those characteristics.

If I want to be truly beautiful, I need Someone Who is truly beautiful to capture my attention.
